Introduction
To communicate effectively with other people, not only we need to be self-aware, but also know the impact of our style on other people. We need to use a range of skills in different situations based on different personalities. This highly practical course helps delegates to understand their strength and develop their own communication style through many group exercises and interactive content.
Overview
To provide delegates with an understanding of the importance of effective communication and to provide them with a range of communication approaches which can readily be incorporated into their communication process with other staff and patients.
Outcome
On completion of this program, participants will :

  • Understand the importance of effective communication particularly in the healthcare environment
  • Be able to explain the impact of both verbal and non-verbal communication
  • Readily engage in the listening styles of Attending Listening, Active Listening and Reflective Listening and as a consequence be able to assertively re-present or restate the views and opinions of others and themselves.
  • Understand the approach to written communication in a way that avoids jargon and conveys technical information in a clear, concise, non-technical manner and is appropriate to the reader.
